How to use

1. Set two fingers on one button. Rest your index and middle finger on the same mouse button. You'll alternate them, so each finger presses in turn while the other lifts.
2. Start clicking in a drum roll. Click the big area to start the timer, then tap the two fingers down one after the other in a fast, even rhythm.
3. Read your butterfly CPS. When the window ends you get your clicks per second. A steady rhythm scores 12 to 15 CPS, where a single finger usually tops out around 10.

Why test this

Butterfly clicking posts the biggest numbers you can hit with your hand alone. Instead of one finger doing every press, you rest two on the same button and drum them in turn, so while one lifts the other is already coming down. There is no gap between presses to fill, which is why a clean butterfly rate can add about half again to a single finger. This test shows what your rhythm is actually producing. An even alternation where each finger carries its own beat climbs to the mid teens. A stumbling one where the fingers land on top of each other barely beats single clicking, and the number makes the difference obvious in a way your hand cannot feel. That is the whole point of testing it: butterfly rewards evenness over effort, and the counter is the only thing that tells you whether your two fingers are truly taking turns or just fighting for the same button. It is worth knowing the trade too. The rocking motion that drives the speed pulls your whole hand around, so holding an aim while you butterfly click is harder than with a steadier method. That cost is why the technique faded from top level Minecraft PvP even though the raw CPS is high, and the score alone will never show it.

What the results mean

Your CPS is total clicks over the window, and for butterfly clicking a strong run reads 12 to 15 CPS. A score near your normal single finger rate means the two fingers are not really alternating yet. A big jump is proof the drum roll has locked in. Best holds your fastest run on that button and window in this browser. It doesn't split butterfly runs from plain ones, so a normal run at the same window can set it too. Butterfly hides a trap no other technique has. Part of the speed can come from the mouse, not your hand. A worn or cheap switch sometimes registers two clicks from a single press, a debounce fault, and butterfly's rapid double taps trigger it more than any other method. That inflates the count with clicks you never made. So treat a score past the mid teens with suspicion. If it reads that high or feels far easier than it should, run the double-click test to see whether the switch is doubling on you before you trust the number. As with any burst method, watch for your fingers tiring, and stop if the knuckles or tendons start to ache rather than chasing a few more clicks.

Is butterfly clicking safer than jitter clicking?

It is not risk free. The rapid finger drumming still stresses the knuckles and finger tendons, so rest when they tire and stop if a joint aches.

Is butterfly clicking allowed in Minecraft?

Yes. It's a physical technique, no different from normal clicking. Only auto clickers and macros that generate fake input break the rules. Some servers ban drag clicking because it leans on a switch fault, but butterfly is just fast hands and stays allowed.
